Mad about heels!

Well, if u do not know yet, I love heels.

Besides the fact that any extra inches is always welcomed for the very petite me, to me wearing heels adds confidence ,is sexy and really corrects one's posture.  We ladies are really lucky that there are soooooo many varieties of those fashionable heels for us to strut in.

See what Tyra Banks has to say about her love for heels!and tips for choosing them!

When husby says the darnest things....

Conversation with husby tonite about dinner -

Me: There is nothing in the fridge to cook.
Him: You have a lot of bags, right? Makan bags ajer lah (Just eat the bags lah..).
Me: *about to strangle him*
Him: Let's eat asam pedas kate spade, buah keluak coach and adidas masak hitam.

Grr. Told you I have a crazy husband :P

ImaginOcean...

I was on the way to work last Thursday when a friend texted me and asked if I was free in the afternoon.

Apparently , she had two complimentary tickets to a Glow-in-the-dark musical and wondered if I wanted to join. I just watched Aladdin the week before and would always jump at the mere mention of a musical. And this one is Glow in the dark some more!

I asked her what it was about ... but she wasn't sure herself except that it is a 3D live animation as well.

Ok, I didn't ask much and we agreed to meet for lunch first.

Can you believe that the last time we met each other was at my place in 2009 - Christmas season? YEah , that long! I miss her much so I was really looking forward to our date.

We had lunch at Fig  &Olive at Downtown East. I wasn't impressed with my dish so I shall not bother to blog about it :P

Darling Amy .. well, at least, her food looked good!

After lunch , we proceeded to the venue. Ahhh... the show was called ImaginOcean - I think it was probably supposed to be 'Imagination' but it was an underwater world scene so that explained the 'Ocean'.

At D'Marquee @ Downtown East

The weird thing was that we kept being asked whether we brought our kids along / were told to register our kids for free gifts etc etc.

The first time we were asked, I did not bother much but when the 4th person asked where my kid was , I had a strong suspicion we were at the wrong show and, stared at Amy .

She got my stare and we burst out laughing! This show was for kids!!! When we entered the hall, there were so many little children with their parents. OMG. We were so tickled that we started 'scolding' her husband as he was the one who gave her the free tickets.

Oh well, since we were there, we decided to sit through it , hoping that it would not be boring!

That's what the parents say...

It was really interesting , on hindsight. The whole hall and stage were in total darkness and the sea characters were in 3D and they really glowed onstage. It was pretty cool! Just like "Finding Nemo", except that this was live!

The simple yet magical stage

As much as everything was colourful and captivating (for the kids, I am sure), we lost interest probably after about 20 mins. I was even dozing off! hahahah.... I felt bad and tried to stay awake. Thank god the show lasted for only an hour!

We went for drinks after that and caught up on each other's lives which was definitely way more interesting! And we have already made plans to meet up on Christmas Eve with the other two -Denise and Wendy! I can't wait! But that would mean I need to get Xmas presents for them ... what to get..what to get...

Husby fetched me so we managed to have a photo taken together !

An afternoon well-spent despite the "I feel cheated" feeling :P .

I am really looking forward to my next date with the gals! *Muacks*

The new Sakura Restaurant

If u are a Tampines resident (sadly, I am no more), u would know the area near the library where there used to be Prime supermarket. S11 kopitiam has also been there the past years.

Recently, two new restaurants just started out near the S11 area, and one of them is Sakura.

Well, I am sure many have patronised Sakura's other branches. I was really sad when they closed down the branch in Simei as I like their food.. But hey, no reason to be sad anymore!

Sakura Restaurant specialises in Thai n Chinese cuisines. When my parents, nephew and I did our debut visit, we took a long time to decide what to eat. Finally we settled on having rice with sweet sour fish slices, mango salad, fishball soup, kailan n scallops in garlic sauce and a chicken dish (forgot what it was exactly).

Not disappointed at all. My fav were the kai lan with scallops n fishball soup! My mum was also enjoying her mango salad. Service there was pretty efficient and since they were newly opened, we got free desserts!

Overall, the meal cost us abt $80. For 3 adults n 1 kid, I think it is not bad. The only negative remark I wld hv is the spartan furnishing. There was no decorations whatsoever so in terms of ambience, bleargh.

But perhaps they are not done yet since the place is pretty new. Some colourful wallpaper would be nice.

So hey, Tampines pple (and everyone else), there is another place to fill up our tum tum ! ;P

Back home!

We touched down from Hongkong on Saturday morning , slightly after midnite.

My parents fetched us with the lil darling... Gosh, I really missed him so so much! Couldn't stop kissing and hugging him.

We slept pretty late ..because we were too eager to categorise what we bought from HK. Haha... There is one more pic of the things we bought from the markets/malls but it is somewhere in the other sd card.

Anyway, house is in a terrible mess. Shall blog again when things are cleared... Toodles!

Holidays!

hallo hallo!

I doubt I will be blogging anytime soon. We have a morning flight to catch tmrw to Penang. We were supposed to fly off today with the rest of the family for this short getaway but something cropped up and we had to adjust our schedule.

After that, I would be leaving for a school trip to Hongkong for a few days. And the best thing, I get to bring the husby along. Looking forward to it as well! ;)

So I am praying that everything will be fine and we will touch down safely back home next Friday.

Tata all! Happy holidays!

Whoots! What a loot!

To think that when we decided to go to Orchard over the weekend, husby suggested taking the bus and train. How in the world would we transport all these home on public transport? I think he will probably end up carry everything. Haha.

He had emptied one bag when I took this photo... The rest has been in the same positions for two days! I must clear them asap becos we need the space ..but I am feeling extremely lazyyyyyy

Birthday @ Universal Studio and Festive Hotel (Part 2)

[continuation from Part 1]

So, we were at USS. I know there is a small prayer area provided but while planning this whole outing , I thought it would be splendid to book a room at one of the hotels there. At the same time, we can have our own mini celebration in the room.

I wanted to stay in Hard Rock Hotel but it was fully booked. My next option was the Festive Hotel since I've heard many great reviews about it.

I confirmed the booking and made a few calls / emails to update them on my mini plan. The staff there were very helpful, I must say, updating me very regularly about the availability of my request.

Anyway, we checked in at 3pm after explorng USS since 10am. Just a note, if you plan to do the same thing, you may want to come in slightly earlier eg: 2:30pm . Because when we wanted to check in, there was such a lonnnnnnnngggggggggg line - everyone was trying to check in! It was basically time wasted... :(

The lobby of the hotel is extrremely colourful and full of vibrancy. Everything else looks pretty much how a good hotel would be like. The corridors leading towards the rooms are really pretty, with paintings of flowers adorning the walls. Of course, knowing SG, there is no need to doubt the standard of the hotels here. Everything is immaculately designed and every single small detail was covered.

Our room was right at the end of the very long corridor...still must turn right after that and walked some more!

Finally here- with our shopping loot!

Passage to heaven?

Very pretty, yah? The only thing was I had actually asked for 'Happy Birthday!' instead of this. Now, it felt more like  wedding anniversary celebration. I decided not to make a fuss though because they gave the other extras that were not in our agreement - the many animal-shaped balloons and Gingerbreadman soft toy. :)

Haha! This was cute! But it did not last long because yours truly had to go to the toilet soon after. LOL.

How to sleep like that?

One minus point here. Besides the one in the bathroom, this is the only other mirror in the room! I  need  a full length mirror or at least, half body. Grrrrrr.

Complimentary birthday cake. Pretty good and we actually brought it home the next day  since the 2 of us couldn't finish the whole thing :)

I had sent them my birthday message earlier so that they can have it printed on the card and deliver with the cake.  I did not expect the drawings though. Very nice of them

There were not many presents for this year since I've burst my budget on the USS and hotel accommodation. Hehe..... maybe this should be a start to simplify our annual celebrations.

1st one- for those cashless transactions and occasional bus/MRT rides.

But these are not your usual EZLink cards. Because they are......

CUSTOMIZED! I told him to choose one and I'll take the other one. And he had to choose the one I wanted!

Does it look like him? It is a piece of wood carving.

We then proceeded back into USS till the nite. Night was spent watching TV and goofying around. I was too tired to go out for dinner (it is called the 'aging syndrome') so we just had take-aways in the hotel room.

We cut the cake only the next morning as that would be his actual birth date.

He would never have too many watches.

We went out pretty early and did some last minute shopping. I know, I know... we were just in Singapore still but really could not help it lah.  We had breakfast at Coffee Bean and also explored the Hershey and Candylicious stores. Woo hooo.... if I had a sweet tooth, I would have bought the whole two stores!

HERSHEY'S STORE

Overall, it was a very enjoyable weekend! I love spending time with my other half and we are hoping to go to USS again. I hope the next time, I can check out Hard Rock Hotel.

We had another celebration at night at our place - a surprise one for my mum (same birthday). Simply family affair but we had a fantastic cake! Next entry!

Birthday @ Universal Studio and Festive Hotel (Part 1)

And finally , the hubby turned a year older!

Both of us always try to come up with different ideas for our birthday celebrations. After many years , one can run out of ideas. I mean , Singapore is small and has limited attractions . It can probably last us for just a couple more years before we go back to the standard routine of movie-dinner-presents... which is not bad actually. Slower pace and less stress :P

I was trying hard to make his birthday this year just as memorable as the past ones when I figured out, hey , why not the Universal Studios? It has been opened for quite some time already and due to our busy schedules, we have yet to step into it.

So that was it! USS, it shall be! However, my friends suggested purchasing the Express Pass so that you can beat the queues. I went ahead to book online and my , my! What a hole burnt in the pocket! I knew the tickets would cost about $72 on a weekend but I was not prepared for the $49.90 price tag for the Express Pass. The total cost was ($72 + $49.90) x 2 = $243.80 just to enter! *faints* Luckily the online site is having a 20%off for Mastercard booking (for entry tickets only) so that saved me quite a few bucks.

Sidetrack: Hubby and mum share the same birthday. Since I was planning a little surprise for her on the actual day (13th Nov), the USS trip was done a day in advance.

And so, on a not-so-bright-pray-it-won't-rain Saturday morning, we finally stepped into USS.

Still looking fresh!

There were so many cute figurines even before we stepped into USS. Pinohchio, the Three Lil Pigs, Humpty Dumpty etc.We snapped pic with almost all.... it is like all our childhood stories come true.

Boo!

It was like stepping into a totally new world. I wish all the trees in the country are  like those found in USS. Pretty!

We got the Express pass for an extra $50 each and skipped the queue...all the way to the front!

To the 4D Shrek show. Just ok , I feel. Had higher expectations.

Unfortunately , it rained at about noon but this lil girl was obviously  having her own fun time.

Stupid faces as we took shelter and trying to decide where to go.

We figured out the best was to go and take the Mummy Ride that everyone raves about. It is indoors so we only had to brave the rain to go there.

Did I chicken out from taking the indoor roller coaster?

Of course not! Honestly, I was very fearful of rollercoasters... the last time I rode in one was many many years ago and I do not even think any of you would find it scary. But hey , I paid so much I'd better ride on all that I could find! Haha....

I bought the photoshot (yes, I looked really scared) ... but I shall post that photo at the end of this entry.

Of all the attractions,  I like New York City the most. Must save money ... hope to be at the real NYC in 2 years! Hehe... :P

We really had a lot of fun together and wished that we could continue the next day.

But hey , the celebration did not stop there! Actually, I think it was a good birthday gift for husby. I know he enjoyed himself tremendously , despite the rain ... and as always, we shopped ! For quite a bit.. I wouldn't want to disclose how much damage was done though.

Without his knowledge , of course, I had actually booked a night at Festive Hotel . Since we could check in by 3pm, I figured out it would make it easier for us to do our afternoon and evening prayers and then go back into USS.

It was a nice surprise and as much as I know he liked it , I think I liked it more. Haha..... That would go into the next entry  - Part 2! Will be up soon!

And now, as promised, my priceless photos on the rollercoasters :)

I looked quite scared and wary, yah? This was the first ride, we took the ride twice. It was sooooooooo fun I felt like doing it over and over  again!

Battlestar Galaticca

Of course, I had to take this! I was determined to overcome my fear of these thrilling rides. We took the red one first (red- HUMAN, blue-CYCLON)...oh gosh! For some parts, I felt like my heart was literally jumping out of my mouth! It was exhilarating and I told myself , I shall take the even more terrifying BLUE one!

Anyway, here's a shot on the Battlestar. Go on and laugh ...I looked really ridiculous :)

And with that , I end Part 1. Shall aim to complete Part 2 by end of the week. I am busy with admin matters for the school Hongkong Trip.

Adios!
