Get your Selfie Stick @ bicycles.sg!

Sponsored

How many times have you encountered such a moment - everyone is feeling high and wanna have a group photo , get into a group pose and then realise 'Hey, who's gonna snap for us'?!?

I have been in such situations many times before.

So what used to be the typical solutions?

1) One person has to be the sacrificial lamb and be the photographer for the group shot. The rest will feel bad and another person will volunteer to snap the next shot so that the first lamb will now be in the photo. Conclusion: Eventually, you do not get a complete group photo after all!

2) Get a passing stranger to take the group photo for you. Personally , I prefer Option 1 because I always feel awkward when I have to pose or want to make monkey faces in front of someone I absolutely do not know. Then, you will feel obliged to not to ask for more than 2 takes because ..you know... that can irritate the photographer. Bleargh.

3) Use a tripod. Yeah , right... how many of us lug around a tripod (and a camera) everyday of our lives?

4) Do a group selfie or a we-fie as we call it! Ok , this definitely sounds much much better! I can be wacky with the rest of the gang, do not feel self-conscious& we can have as many takes as possible! The only minus point is the photos may end up like this......

Hahhahaha!  Poor husband of mine.... he always ends up getting part of his face cut off the frame! Even the fact that he has the longest arms and is the tallest in my family didn't help! (This was taken  at my uncle's place...we were all in a rather hyper mood but hhhahahaa.....such a spoiler !)

I give u one more!

You cannot even see my mum here!

SOLUTION?

Well, get a Monopod! We have always seen people carrying those weird-looking long sticks to take their selfies / we-fies and some people just swear by it!

One Monopod that you may want to consider purchasing is from http://bicycles.sg/shop/selfie-stick

Their model is compatible with all phones and cameras. Just connect your cameras or phones to the Monopod adapter using the tripod insert.

Here is my Samsung Galaxy S4 firmly attached to the adapter. You don't have to worry about your device slipping / dropping off - the grip is pretty strong.

You want a wider angle? Simple extend the pole. This selfie stick is extendable up to 108cm.
Carrying it is not a hassle since it is only 22cm at its shortest and weighs a very light 22 grams.

The Monopod at its shortest
Monopod fully extended. This is especially good if you have a big group of people in the photo or taking photos/videos of a pretty landscape. I haven't had the chance to do the latter due to the piles of work in the past few weeks.

You can slot it into most handbags with ease!

The Monopod from http://bicycles.sg/shop/selfie-stick is really easy to use. You just have to:

1. Fit phone into the phone bracket included
2. Open camera app
3. Adjust the selfie stick to the right angle/length
4. Set timer on your camera (5-10s)
5. Extend the stick and smile!

They come in other exciting colours as well - red , blue, yellow. I would definitely go for red, if given the option :P

For $13 only, this is absolutely worth the money!

This Monopod is perfect for your photos and videos during your travels, at weddings, parties, the beach, sports events.... you name it, you've got it!

Hope you will be as happy with your Monopod as I am with mine!

BRANDSFEVER RELIABLE? NEVER EVER!!!

I have been patient, RIDICULOUSLY patient with this stoooooooppiiiiiiddddddd (read: stupid) company that claims to be a reputable online seller when it is obviously NOT!

Brandsfever.com is probably a SCAM right through.

I cannot believe I was so careless and did not do a pre-research on them, after what happened with Singsale (which in retrospect, seems so mild now)!

*bangs head against the wall a million times*

I placed an order for a COACH wristlet on Dec 27, 2013. The only right thing I did was to order only one item - I always caution myself not to do big orders on a new site.

I am a loyal fan of Reebonz but Brandsfever.com is so widely advertised on Facebook that I assumed it must be safe. The website also looks very clean-cut like that of Reebonz and is very user-friendly. It even has the option of express delivery and an online support system.

Oh, all the shit.

Up till now, Feb 4, I have not received my item at all.

I could understand that when I placed my order, it was post Christmas and then it was the upcoming new year - postages do tend to get delayed during festive seasons. However, I am pretty sure they do not get delayed for a month, especially when the company is based locally.

Still, the main thing that drives me soooooooo mad is how flippant they can be at responding to customer's emails and always taking the easy way out by promising to deliver by a certain date. Same trick , again and again.

I'm going to be real transparent here and let you see how irresponsible these people are.

Round 1

My first email to them was on Jan 7  which I did not manage to capture. They had sent me an email earlier indicating that I would receive my order a week after New Year's day.
Their reply:

To this , I got no response.

Round 2

I waited for a few days before emailing them again on Jan 15. No reply.

I called the next day(Jan 16) and asked the lady about my order. She replied that the parcel would only reach them the week after and then it would take 3 days to reach me.

I got really fed-up and told her that it was meant to be a new year's gift and I did not understand why they promised me 2 different dates yet, could not deliver. What kind of professionals did they claim to be?

Suddenly she said she could put in an urgent notice and get it sent to me that Saturday, 18 Jan 2014. Oh wow... suddenly the parcel could reach them instantly . Magic, is it?

BIG FAT LIAR

Round 3

I emailed them on Jan 19 , asking why my item still did not reach me despite them promising to deliver by the 18th.
Their reply (Jan 20):
So now it has become end of January.

I replied, stating my absolute unhappiness about how they did not deliver what they promised and their stories kept changing. I did not, however, expect them to reply with the most 'hilarious' one ever. This takes the cake.

Dear Ms Andrea Vaguez,
Please explain how in the world could my parcel have reached me on 27 Jan when it was only 20 Jan? Was I supposed to take a time machine or something?

By this time, I knew they were probably taking me for a ride and I asked the husby if I should bring this up to the authorities. I had CASE in mind but that was Week 3 of the school term and things have started to be too hectic for me to entertain such nonsense by these corrupt people. I was ready to lose my money then.

But for fun , I emailed back .... dying to know how they would respond.

To which I received no acknowledgement ,whatsover. Why am I not surprised?

I had, honestly , given up at this point of time but I thought... oh well, let's just wait till the 27th.

Jan 27 came and went by peacefully.

Round 4

Their reply

Jerna Bustamante, you did not even bother to address me by my salutation. I am sure it's because you just had too many complaints to respond to.

So that's enough evidence to conclude that they are nothing but idiots who think we have nothing to do but wait around for our items.

I have been an avid online shopper for years and this is the first time ever that I truly feel I have been scammed.

I am not unreasonable and I can understand if something takes a long time to reach , especially if the item comes from overseas. I have bought things from overseas and they barely take 3 weeks to arrive (shopbop.com can even deliver in 4days !). Whatever it is, their endless promises and lies regarding the many delivery dates are just too appalling to stomach.

I am hoping that my cough will go away soon so that I can call and scream at them one last time.

I know I am not the only pissed off customer because if you just simply google, out of 10 reviews on Brandsfever.com, 9 are bad ones! Such an apt name - they give you FEVER!

I'll update if I ever hear anything from them or if I decide to take this case further (I doubt so though...).

Meanwhile, I shall stick to the boutiques, shopbop.com or Reebonz for my designer feeds.

Remember, avoid Brandsfever.com at all costs!

Outfit of the day (lunch with mum)

Just for fun , I think I shall occasionally put up my #ootd.

So here's the one for today's afternoon date with mum at Arab St .

Pardon the dusty mirror!

Inner tee : Angsana Mall JB
Top: Sleeveless tunic from H &M, KL
Bottom: Light blue jeggings from Uniqlo
Bracelets: Louvisa @ KL and DIVA
Watch: DKNY
Shoes: Crocs Pink wedge sandals
Clutch bag: Kate Spade
Shawl: Pashmina shawl , bday prezzie from an aunt

I am not a pashmina lover. However soft they all claim to be , I find it difficult to wrap them around my head without feeling all hot and bulky. I have a few pashminas given by people and they have been nestling nicely in the wardrobe.

Until I watched the hijab tutorial by Adlina Anis! She made it seem so easy that I just had to try it out! And I succeeded on my first attempt (hence, this #ootd)!

I recently went to her site adlinaanisselections.com and really without meaning to, purchased 4 shawls without thinking much! Hahhahaa...... They have since arrived and I have tried out 2 of them. Love them !

I shall see about purchasing more next month. For now, no more shopping because I really shopped like crazy this April!

Online shoes shopping !

Ever since I got hold of my yellow MJ bag, I have been searching high and low for yellow shoes.
I wanted to get either a pair of flats or wedges for casual outings and another pair of heels for something more dressy/formal/suitable for work.

Since the trend on colour blocking is still going on, I had thought that I would have no problem finding such bright-coloured shoes.

I was SO WRONG! Nothing I saw was ever suitable. The yellow flats that I did find were more towards the dull shade of yellow - I wanted bright, bright, bright yellow! As for the heels, I did see a few but they were all mighty high , at least 4 inches to balance on.  That would be a piece of cake in my younger years... but sadly, I am getting older and can only tolerate a maximum of 3 inches of heels. The best definitely would be the fun-sized 2-inches kitten heels.

And thus, the online search began. I had no time to go to town and walk around to look for a yellow pair. Besides, my cousin recommended a few online websites that sell shoes AND are reliable. All the sites are based in the USA.

Limited variety but almost everything on the site is really, really pretty.

Here are some of my favourites.

But as you can see, all the shoes come with almost impractical heels. How does one even walk in that? Maybe it is manageable if I wear it to a dinner function whereby I can just sit down and not walk. I was out of the site within minutes.

Ooooohhh...... I like this site! Many different designs of all colours that you can possibly imagine.
The only downside is that some of the shoes are not shipped outside of the USA so you need to read the fine prints on each photo. It was just my bad luck that the ones I picked out are only shipped within USA. Of course, I could use my Vpost US address for this transaction but again , as if it was fated, I could not find any yellow heels that were of manageable height there.

But I still have some favourites there that I will consider in future, in case I decide to go for sky-high heels again. Let me show you!

Ok, the list seems endless! But seriously, aren't they so pretty? I can almost drool at the thought of owning all of them :P

The seemingly-endless search for a pair of yellow heels finally paid off when I saw this pair of pumps on zappos.com . I have been looking for this Aldo pair in Singapore since I last saw it online but I did not manage to locate it at all! I was pretty sad and was ready to give up... but hey, luck was obviously on my side.

I found the pair.

My cousin was the one who did the ordering for me...thank u , my dear!

And yesterday, the mail man knocked on the door and presented me with the long-awaited (ok, not that long) pair! Yeah!

TADAH!!!!! I like!!!!!

Well, the colour is slightly brighter than I'd like. But no sweat, I am sure it will be gorgeous when being paired up with my sunshine bag!

And I thought that would spell the end of the shoes shopping. Alas, I stumbled upon a pair of pink suede pumps on asos.com... and ...well, you guessed it alright! I clicked to purchase! I am still waiting for it. I hope the shoes reach me in time for Raya.

I would say shopping for shoes online is rather interesting - all you have to do are to click, view and add to cart. But worry not! I will still contribute to the local shoes industry. Nothing beats trying out and prancing around in heels while checking own feet out in the mirrors :)

Something bright , something yellow from Marc Jacobs. (Reebonz)

Well, I never really posted anything about my awesome powsome buy , did I?

It all started during our KL getaway last March. We didn't really plan to shop much but seriously, who were we kidding? Put the two of us in a good mall and just let us loose - see what happens :)

Anyway , we were done with our shopping at KLCC and were just browsing through. I went into Gucci first then Kate Spade ( and there was this attractive and striking orange bag!) .. I was just about to pass by Marc Jacobs when something yellow caught my attention.

It was this gorgeous looking bright yellow quilted bag , with dark gold chains as the straps. I held it, smelled it .... and fell in love with this pure lambskin. But we always must face reality so I took a peek at the price tag.

RM4300.

Ok, steep. That's about Sg$1870 - I have never spent more than $1000 on any bags before. However, this one was a tad too big for me so I thought if they have it in a slightly smaller size, it'll probably be more affordable and suitable as well.

They had it but not in stock yet! Going for RM3200 (SGD 1391) ... sounded slightly better. But I had to console myself that it probably was not meant to be and let it go at that.

Weeks passed and after a long hiatus, I decided to pay Reebonz a visit, you know, just for fun. I have not stopped thinking about the yellow bag , though.

And guess what? They just started a Marc Jacobs thread and that exact same bag ( the slightly smaller version ) was for grabs for slightly less than 1k.

Seriously, I got super excited and my heart definitely beat faster! But I could not buy impulsively until I got the green light from hubby.

And yes, I got it! I think he knew how much in love I was with it.

So , in a matter of 3 days, the lovely signature black box and gold ribbon were in my hands...

But I remember I was really tired from work and I actually went to bed without opening it. Yeah, that tired!

It was , however, a worthwhile wait.

Marc Jacobs Yellow Lambskin Quilted Handbag. Mad love!

I am still in love with it . I've used it thrice and stopped there - decided to keep it first while it still smells of leather. Hee hee...

Our first outing together :P

I realise that now when I shop, I tend to look for colours. My staples used to be black and beige, with the occasional pink. But lately, I have been buying tops of solid and bright colours like purple, emerald green , yellow,  orange and sky blue! Very unlike me but somehow I am just so drawn to these colours . Now I am even on the lookout for yellow and green jeans.... perhaps I need the colourful hues to counter my increasing age... heehee...

Next , I am waiting for my Tangerine Tutti Fruitti from Haney Bags, which will reach me in a week. That will probably spell the last purchase for bags this year. I need to save up for more important things :)

Can't wait! It is a cute handcarry with a pop of colour!

I really do hope this will be my last bag for the year. I rarely make such resolutions and I sure pray that this will be a success.

Till the next post , toodles!

Review on Saks.com !

Why keep good things to yourself?

Haven't we always been taught to share and care?

SO, I am sharing with you an online shopping site that you should visit NOW.

It is saks.com

What is that?

Well, if you are familiar with the shopping scene in US, this site is actually from Saks Fifth Avenue - where they sell LOADS of pretty and wonderful things.

I haven't exactly bought much stuff there except for my Clarins products but let me tell you - I saved  A LOT when I did the recent buy.

Most of the products that are from US or Europe are much cheaper than if you get them in Singapore. (Those from Japan eg , SK II and Shishedo , on this site, are ridiculously more expensive so get them locally!)

One example is my CLARINS UV PLUS Day Screen High Protection. It costs $74 at CLARINS counters in Singapore and $72 at my favourite Century Square Tins & Bottles. But through this website, it only cost me USD 38 = SGD 49.40 !!!! If that is not called wise shopping, then I don't know what is!

Do you notice the Intensive Serum for USD 69 (SGD 89.70) ? Here, it is about $138!

But then you may question - with the shipping cost and all, it will probably amount to the same thing , won't it?

No, you still save because currently, they are offering a flat EXPRESS shipping rate of USD 19.99 for international orders of at least USD99.That means it doesn't matter how heavy your items are , it will still be USD19.99. You just need to enter the promotion code : ROW12 when you check out your cart. However, codes may change so always double check on the homepage.

But it was a nice surprise for me though because I was only charged USD 14 for freight :)

You do not have to worry about any breakages of your items. Everything was well-packed and bubble wrapped. Plus, delivery is done through DHL so you know your items are safe :)

They have, of course, other things on their site besides beauty products. Such as these, that set me drooling biigggggg time :P ....

Okay, I'd better stop before I go cross-eyed and get frustrated with the prices. LOL.

NOTE 1 : Although you can view the prices in SGD, do remember to convert to USD when checking out. Somehow, it is cheaper.

I am not sure how long this offer of flat shipping will last so hurry , if u want to benefit from it.

NOTE 2: Any overseas purchase beyond SGD 400 (including shipping) will be taxed once they reach Singapore. Thus, do split your orders if you intend to spend more than that.

barneys.com is also having a promotion - Designer discount up to 40% and FREE international shipping! Shall check that out for my make up items !

Happy shopping, people!

Get ur beauty products at bestbuy-world.com!

If you know me, you would know I am such an avid online shopper.

I have bought so many things online; bags, watches, make up, shawls, brooches, shoes, plates... just name it! :P For a short while last year, I was even 'lost' when I tried shopping physically. I did not know where to start from when I was in any shopping centre. I guess this must be because I was used to having everything in front of my eyes and everything was  just a click away.

Thank god that didn't last long, I got over it after a few more 'practices'. Heehee. I can definitely shop online and offline. :P

Recently, or rather at the beginning of the year, I discovered a local site that sells beauty products - skincare, perfumes, make up etc . I tried it and I think they have earned another loyal customer - me!

Can you see there are so many things on their home page? Initially, I was a little turned off - I definitely prefer clean sites , where the interface does not look so confusing or intimidating.

But then, I realised it wasn't confusing at all. They just had to put that many pictures of items / those on promotions so that we , the customers, do not miss out on anything!

They have practically almost all the brands you can think of. Easy navigation eventually , all you have to do is click on the correct category.

If you wonder about the authenticity of their products, no worries! They are a reputable company selling only original goods (they also ship overseas).  And of course, any consumer will want to go for a better value for money and this site proves to be so.

One of my recent purchases was the SK II 215ml Facial Treatment Essence , or better known as the "Miracle Water".

Retail price over the counter is about $200. Usually, I buy my supply at Tins N Bottles at Century Square for approx $180 but look there! $157! I saved so much!

This site is also recommended if you are one who likes to buy items in travel sizes. I loaded up on my Clarins moisturizer - now I can bring them wherever I go, at a fraction of the original price!

I haven't gotten to the best part yet . You need to spend ONLY $50 for free delivery! On top of that, they are really efficient. I did the recent order on Thursday at 4pm and the items were delivered the next day at 1pm!

So you save time, energy and transport costs - all at a click of the mouse!

I cannot believe I have missed out on this wonderful site (heard that it has been around for quite some time) but it is never too late to start, isn't it?

The next time you run out of facial products etc , give this a try :) It is worth your money.
