Scholl - For fashion and comfort!

I love shoes.

Oh well, who doesn't? Or rather, which lady doesn't?

My mother is no exception. I remember that when I was young, I loved prancing around in her heels, click-clacking all the way in the corridor. Her heels were never very high though and she always went for very safe colours - I remember they were mostly black, brown , beige and dark blue.

But once she hit her mid-40s, she no longer went for heels, citing leg pain and aches.

Unfortunately, I felt that way earlier - when I reached 28! I am an avid fan of high heels and could be in stilettos for whole consecutive days during my earlier days of work life. That is probably the reason why I felt the effects much much sooner than momma.

I even remember that in 2011, I wore Fitflops all the way while teaching and going out. TSK.

Recently, I did something I thought I never would - I bought shoes from Scholl!

For as long as I know, Scholl shoes look majorly like these ......

 

 

My mum loves them! Everytime I offer to buy shoes, we would end up at the Scholl area.

 

Honestly, they are SUPER comfortable. I have , on a few occasions, just borrowed her sandals to go to the provision shop a couple of blocks away or bring the nephew down to the playground. I do not wonder why she loves the brand so much.

 

HOWEVER, how to wear such shoes / sandals?!? I would age a few decades the minute I put them on! Hahaha.... not nice! I wouldn't parade them around even if I am paid to do so!

 

Then, in recent years, Scholl started to revamp their styles and I see something like the following sprouting around like mushrooms...

 

 

 

 

Not bad, right? These, I wouldn't mind. Not exactly something that I would jump at and buy immediately but they are really okay, in my opinion.

Recently , I went to Isetan to look at Clarks shoes.

Sidetrack: Clarks has been producing cute and quirky heels that are so so comfy that they were the only shoes I considered whenever I was out shopping. Now that age is taking its toll on my feet, thighs etc, comfort ranks high on my priority list!

Then, I saw brightly-coloured heels over in the Scholl section and immediately scurried over. Not bad , not bad....

I am a very quick shopper and I was looking for simple black pumps. It wasn't long before I decided to get these at $125 ( before discount , it was $149).

I wore these to work recently and also on the first day of Hari Raya. No pain at all! They have all the cushioning and padding the old me need.. Love! They also come in bright red and bright blue!

 

Scholl doesn't have that many nice designs yet but I shall wait patiently. I am sure it will happen sooner or later.

 

I am waiting for something yellow as my neon yellow Aldo ones are giving way - they are not that comfortable anyway.

 

I have my eyes set on these three pairs though ... also from Scholl.

I just bought a pair of red heels (from another brand) so I am hoping these come in other colours as well! Say blue, emerald green or yellow?

Haiz...if only husby had listened to me and bought a ceiling-high shoe cabinet for the second one. Both our shoe cabinets are bursting at their seams!

Something bright , something yellow from Marc Jacobs. (Reebonz)

Well, I never really posted anything about my awesome powsome buy , did I?

It all started during our KL getaway last March. We didn't really plan to shop much but seriously, who were we kidding? Put the two of us in a good mall and just let us loose - see what happens :)

Anyway , we were done with our shopping at KLCC and were just browsing through. I went into Gucci first then Kate Spade ( and there was this attractive and striking orange bag!) .. I was just about to pass by Marc Jacobs when something yellow caught my attention.

It was this gorgeous looking bright yellow quilted bag , with dark gold chains as the straps. I held it, smelled it .... and fell in love with this pure lambskin. But we always must face reality so I took a peek at the price tag.

RM4300.

Ok, steep. That's about Sg$1870 - I have never spent more than $1000 on any bags before. However, this one was a tad too big for me so I thought if they have it in a slightly smaller size, it'll probably be more affordable and suitable as well.

They had it but not in stock yet! Going for RM3200 (SGD 1391) ... sounded slightly better. But I had to console myself that it probably was not meant to be and let it go at that.

Weeks passed and after a long hiatus, I decided to pay Reebonz a visit, you know, just for fun. I have not stopped thinking about the yellow bag , though.

And guess what? They just started a Marc Jacobs thread and that exact same bag ( the slightly smaller version ) was for grabs for slightly less than 1k.

Seriously, I got super excited and my heart definitely beat faster! But I could not buy impulsively until I got the green light from hubby.

And yes, I got it! I think he knew how much in love I was with it.

So , in a matter of 3 days, the lovely signature black box and gold ribbon were in my hands...

But I remember I was really tired from work and I actually went to bed without opening it. Yeah, that tired!

It was , however, a worthwhile wait.

Marc Jacobs Yellow Lambskin Quilted Handbag. Mad love!

I am still in love with it . I've used it thrice and stopped there - decided to keep it first while it still smells of leather. Hee hee...

I realise that now when I shop, I tend to look for colours. My staples used to be black and beige, with the occasional pink. But lately, I have been buying tops of solid and bright colours like purple, emerald green , yellow,  orange and sky blue! Very unlike me but somehow I am just so drawn to these colours . Now I am even on the lookout for yellow and green jeans.... perhaps I need the colourful hues to counter my increasing age... heehee...

Next , I am waiting for my Tangerine Tutti Fruitti from Haney Bags, which will reach me in a week. That will probably spell the last purchase for bags this year. I need to save up for more important things :)

Can't wait! It is a cute handcarry with a pop of colour!

I really do hope this will be my last bag for the year. I rarely make such resolutions and I sure pray that this will be a success.

The Hana Tajima Style

If you are a shawl-lover like yours truly, you would probably have heard of Hana Tajima.

Who is Hana Tajima?
Hana Tajima is a British who is half-Japanese and half-English. She converted to Islam 6 years ago when she was 17. Frustrated with the limited choices for young Muslim ladies, she started her own clothing line and is now a fashion designer.

(23 years old and successful already? Lucky her!)

And currently, the Hana Tajima shawl style is the rage. No more neatly-tied / wrapped shawls.... her style is more of the messy , uneven look. You know , just like how the messy-hair look can be fashionable, so can the messy-shawl look! :)

She has a youtube channel as well, where she puts up tutorials of how to style the hijabs, her style.

Here are two of my favourites....

I have yet to master any of her styles although I have seen some people wearing them and they look really good. I am still quite far from that. However, the downside of this style is that it doesn't cover your chest . I am used to having my shawls big enough to cover my chest (we are supposed to do that, anyway) so I had to modify a little.

It was really pretty easy to put on and handle. Usually I do not take off my shawl when I do my prayers outside because it can be troublesome to start pinning and wrapping it again. But not this style! Since there isn't much structure to it, I actually managed to do it in a jiffy!

I am still trying to perfect it and get used to it though ... I hope I can score a 10 soon :)

Here's one more attempt at modifying it to suit me . Not as good , I think this makes me look fat!

Just because my husby recently commented that my right profile is better than the left, I've been taking pictures that way. LOL. Must revert back to taking from all angles.

Now that the exams are over and no more markings for the time being, I think I will spend more time watching hijab and make-up tutorials , and hopefully, hone my skills!

Online shopping gives me the rush!

I am quite an avid online shopper. Do not leave me alone with the INternet and my cards - that is literally calling for a disaster! But you cannot blame me though. I am at / doing work almost all the time, how to go real-life shopping like that? I remember early this year, husby and I would go shopping every weekend. It all stopped when things get busier and madder at the workplace. Now all I can do is surf and click if I need to fulfil my desires :)

HOwever, I haven't been shopping online for quite a while ...but last weekend, I could not stop myself anymore! Hahha... I had to buy something even if it is just going to be a teeny weeny bit. Cold turkey was unsuccessful , for sure!

I love that exhilarating feeling I get when I open the letter box and see my packages inside. Just 2 days back , my husby returned home with these...

Only 2 packages but enough to put a smile on my face :)

The pink package is from this UK store called Pearl-Daisy. They sell really pretty things for Muslimahs (Muslim women) and the owner even has many many youtube videos on how to don the shawls fashionably and also make-up tutorials. I love her videos but I doubt I will try much of the styles shown. I prefer the simple ways to go to work with...no time!

This turqouise shawl is one of my favourites from Pearl-Daisy. I bought them in 4 different colours!

In the recent package, I also received a membership card . I am not sure if that entitles me to any discounts / privileges since nothing about that was written on the card...will have to check out the site.

I know I have a long way to be the best Muslimah but I need to start somewhere , right? I am trying to cut down on my fitted tops / dresses that highlights the body contours (this is tough for me though because I just love love fashion and fashionable things look much better when fitted ...) ... But who says one cannot be fashionable and modest at the same time?

Hehehe... or maybe I am just finding excuses to shop! Anyway , I saw this vest dress on pearl-daisy and bought it without thinking!

But online shopping is never complete without a stop at my favourite site asos.com! Somehow , there is always something to buy at this site. I am sure many ladies/ gals out there are familiar with this site... almost everything is pretty or cute! If you like dresses (short or long), this is definitely  a place to venture into!

I only bought 2 items this time because I must save money for Hari Raya.... :(

And I think I am addicted to Fitflops. Since my first pair that I bought at a local store, I had bought another pair from an online seller in FB. A gorgeous black one.

And yesterday , the third pair came in the mail! Woo Hoo!

I love this! I think I prefer this to the already-pretty black pair!

They are comfortable and good for the back. After all the heels for 5 days in a row, my feet and back definitely welcome the comfort in these Fitflops. I have already set my eyes on the next 2 pairs.....

Very pretty, right? After I get these 2 designs, then I think I will stop. The only BIG problem is I have no more space in my shoe cabinet (which can actually store 38 pairs of shoes...heehee) so now all my three pairs of FITFLOPS are neatly arranged in the house, by the door. They are the first who will greet my guests . LOL.

No more personal shopping for the next month. Whatever that needs to be bought from now till the next pay-check has to be for the home .. afterall, we only do up the house once a year during Hari Raya. Other times, we are just plain lazy!

Bags , bags, bags!

A lady can never have too many bags - I am sure the majority of the female population agrees :)

My craze for bags started at a very young age (honestly, I think I inherited it from my mum) ; I was already very concerned with bags in secondary schools, often opting for brands such as ELLE, ESPRIT, GUESS - the hot brands among teens in the 1990s :) (yes, yes...I am that old!).

When I was in university, I started to venture out of those brands and would go for absolutely anything colourful, funky, weird but cheap! Hehe... there wasn't much spare cash to splurge on bags but it was an absolute neccessity for me to have matching bags for all my outfits to uni. Some were really cheap but honestly, at one point, I had at least 40 bags that I could rotate for my school days. Such obsession.

It stopped when I started teaching. Firstly, earning my own money makes me appreciate $$ more and I had a lot of family commitments the first few years of my working life hence, leaving me with very little to shop. Furthermore, I drove to work everyday so I could even get away with even carrying a box to and fro! ( I really did that for a couple of weeks ).

When I got married, the interest in bags was still there but the desire to own has definitely lessen. I was more caught up with buying watches and shoes with the other half! Hehehehe... that was fun ! But I think I have enough watches (for now, at least) and I have maximised the space in the shoe cabinet  - so it is back to bags again!

I started adding bags to my collection last yr. This year, I seem to have gotten a few (oopsie!) but I've cut down on other things so it should be ok ..right, husby? Just this year, I've got myself an AGnes B, 2 by Marc Jacobs, 1 from a push-cart in a mall , a white Gucci, a red Burberry (anniversary present) and 1 from SUB (surprise gift from husby ) . It sounds a lot but I threw away five old bags so the new ones are purely functional replacements :P

My latest love is from my favourite brand - Kate Spade! I wasn't sure of it initially and kept changing my mind. I am glad I didn't! I love it!

Super cute interior!

It is really a versatile bag that you can bring from work to play or even evening functions. It is not large but roomy enough to bring all my usual stuff. Very versatile, worth the money spent. I haven't had the chance to bring the bag out yet ..I always lug my big Marc Jacobs or large Longchamps to school- easier to dump my things inside! But I think I shall try to let my new love breathe in some fresh air this coming week.

Kate Spade has also changed the dustbag. It  is now a stylish black with gold letterings :)

Now , I am waiting for my COACH Kristin Leather Hobo. Bought it online and it is apparently on the way ...woots!

My grey Agnes B

I have been wanting to replace my extremely old grey Calvin Klein bag. The bag is really old...dad bought for me back in 1998.

Zip is spoilt and it looks worn and old , although still useable if one is not fussy.

But for me, it is time to let go.

I have been wanting to get a bag from Agnes B. but I didn't want to get any other colours that I do not really need for the moment.

So.... I was extremely happy when my sis managed to get me a canvas grey Agnes B. bag on her trip to Hongkong recently...


I wasn't sure if I would like it at first sight. But after just 2 times of usage, this bag just grows on me! hhahaha.... I like it much now :)

ok...time to put bag shopping on hold for now. ..I think ... I think only , ok?

Because I still need to replace my white Prettyfit (Furla?) and red GUESS(Gucci? yah right!) bag... oh... and I probably need a black handbag , and perhaps a beige crossbody/slingbag.

Oooooooops!

Oh well....

I cannot buy that Juicy Couture watch after all.

After browsing again , I realise it is a bangle-type of watch , not the bracelet-type.

This means that the size/circumference cannot be adjusted. I have TINY wrists (hehehe....), and I know there is no way I can fit into the standard size for a watch.

OH well..... I guess I just to continue searching for the baby pink watch that I need want.

Anyway, I had a good Saturday. Spent the whole morning at home with husby, talking about anything and everything under the sun. I love chatting with my best friend :)

After lunch and some necessary errands, I did some mini shopping. I bought 2 shawls and 2 flower brooches, while he bought me this really cute polka-dotted peach dress. Hehe.... I hope I do not look overaged in that!

So now , it is back to work...A very busy week ahead, again!

Shopping at Shopbop!

 

I discovered shopbop.com a few weeks back (ok ok , I know I am slowwww....) and I wish I had discovered it way sooner.

I have online shopped before but it had always been local websites. I have this fear that I would face problems when dealing with international sites.

Fears were totally unnecessary.

It was very easy to shop at shopbop.com and if you hit USD100, it is free shipping! Z.E.R.O DOLLARS. How cool! And it is obviously very easy to hit USD100. Really.

The items are categorized accordingly and you can choose to view by designers. This makes life easy as you do not have to peel your eyes to the monitor to ensure you do not miss out on what you actually want. I think Marc Jacobs has joined my fav Kate Spade on my list of fav brands.  (I do not have many favs though)

 I have been looking for this bag for ages! Found it in Orchard before but not in the colour that I want. It retails for about $350 in local boutiques but look at how much I save! With the free shipping, my new darling only cost me abt $230. Talk about saving money! Who says shopping is a waste of money ? *chuckles*

I got the above and a few other knick-knacks.

I was informed by my cousin that  I must ensure my package did not exceed SGD400 as tax will be imposed in such cases. So as you can see from above, I separated my packages. Hee.... Go die, GST!

One of the best things abt online shopping ( for me, at least.... ) is the fact that I can track my purchases 'flying' to Singapore! Cheap thrill , I know... but nevertheless, a thrill still.....

 

They promised to deliver within 3 working days. I got mine in 4. But I am not complaining. That is faster than some of the local companies even. 

Next I am going to check out asos.com.... heard so many great reviews about it , it will be a waste not to check it out :)

Watch spree! I like!

 It is weird how we are similar in so many ways.

Besides our love for shoes, we just realised that we share something else in common - love for watches!

I never thought this would be our latest 'obsession'.... lately we have been collecting watches of different colours and patterns.... yes, just to match the clothes / shoes!

After our Swatch  and his Kenneth Cole purchases earlier this yr, we seem to be getting hooked. We just kept looking out for watches of various colours to go with the outfits.

Two days back , before catching a movie at The Cathay , we went to PLaza Singapura. I remembered reading online about a watch shop called MONFAE. It apparently sells very nice watches at really low prices.

However , we were rather disappointed. It was a very small store with very limited choices - although I have to admit their designs are pretty nice... oh , and cheap for sure! We bought one each :)

I am showing this photo because I think the girl is beautiful . Look at her gorgeous eyes!

Finally, a white one for him!

I got this pretty red one... with cute stars all over. Love at first sight. Cheap love too - $50 !

 I saw another watch shop on our way to the escalator and yeah , u guessed it .. we went right in!

I know it looks nothing like it but I call this PUMA one his Ben 10 watch... :P

Us being us, we both wore our new watches the very next day....

I like how the watch matched my red Clarks wedges.... sigh.....

 If you know me or have been reading my blog, you would know that we are such impulse buyers. We don't think, we just buy! (but no... we are NOT rich. Sometimes, I do regret buying ...especially when it leaves me broke. )

We went into this shop , in Whitesands,  called MEGA WATCHES or something like that ...after browsing around, he was torn between a black Adidas and a yellow one...

Spain-inspired watch ! He likes the black one just as much...hmmmm....maybe a fairygodmother overheard him and would surprise him with it someday....

 I wanted to get this particular blue Casio watch .... The sales assistant had already stamped my guarantee card for it when husby reminded me that I have not even worn the blue watch brother gave me for my birthday. I actually forgot all about that! Reminder came at the right time....

DKNY watch was a birthday gift. I like this a lot. Come to think of it, all my
 3 DKNY watches were gifts from others..hehe...

So what did I end up buying? Well, I finally decided on this grey / translucent Baby-G. I was torn between this and a solid black one ... but I thought I should try to be a lil different.

And there you have it, the latest additions to our watch collections! Maybe one day , if I have the mood, I shall take pictures of the whole collections.

So now it is time to stop spending and start saving!

Reebonz purchases thus far....

The first time I knew about Reebonz was through Xiaxue's adverd.

After that , I often browsed through the items. True, their prices are pretty good but there were also a lot of negative reviews , especially about their frequent system breakdowns.

I was once trying to get this Fendi bag but after countless times of failed transaction , I didn't bother to try out. Not until recently.

I didn't buy anything big though ... I always start small when I am not sure if the company is reliable or not.

My first purchase was a Marc by Marc Jacobs small tote bag and a Marc Jacobs keyring for my pretty colleague who loves anything from MJ.




Yeah.... I know it is huge. She likes it though because it stands out and definitely, easy to find :)



I like the 'BookMarc'.

Reebonz really offers a lot of things...lately , I have even been surfing through household wares and 3D puzzles. Haha....

Anyway , I told husby about one of their sale events - Kenneth Cole watches. He was interested in buying on but took too long to decide. By the time he wanted to get one, the event was over - their events often last an avg of two days.

But hey , luck was on his side! A few days later , the Kenneth Cole event was launched again. This time round, there was no waiting time!

Service was fast ... he received the parcel only after 2 days. This definitely beats shopping on international sites!



We didn't expect the ribbon and all... nice touch :)



I like! I wished I had gotten the red version.

Overall, our first experience with Reebonz was a pleasant one. I have been visiting their site every now and then. Whether we come back or not, that would depend on their prices ....hhehehe.... as consumers, we go wherever there is a better deal :)
